Developed by landscape gardener José Marques Loureiro
(1830-1898), the Virtudes Park, which is also known as a garden, has an area of
1ha and has as a particularity: the fact that it develops on slopes down hills,
making it easy to have a view of the whole park in different angles, as well as to the
Douro river.

In addition to the natural flora of Porto, at the park you
can also find the largest Ginkgo Biloba L. of Portugal, a Chinese tree from the 18th century, with about 35 meters. With so much green, the place is the perfect
address for several species of birds that sing a relaxing soundtrack during
the stay at the park.

In the most diverse points of the Virtudes Park you can find
green areas and benches to sit and relax. It is also possible to find some
sculptures and visit the Fountain of Virtues, a national monument that gives
its name to the park due to the belief that the water that flows from the
source has medical properties.
