CIBIO-InBIO - Research Center on Biodiversity and Genetic Resources, in partnership with Serralves Park, held the last weekend (April 21-22) BioBliz, a scientific event with free entrance dedicated to the discovery and distribution of knowledge on Biodiversity.
The event brought together several families who enjoyed the day in communion with nature. Besides that, experts, scientists, teachers, volunteers and students were present with the common determination to discover the secrets of one of the most beautiful parks in Porto.

Scientific and pedagogical workshops were offered, group outings with institute researchers, thematic games, workshops and much more.

The workshops oriented in a playful-pedagogical way by the team of educators of the Educational Service Environment and Arts allowed great involvement of the children's public. The themes covered included: trees, shrubs and bryophytes; amphibians and reptiles; bats; micromamíferos; lichens; mushrooms; birds; insects and more.

Field trips with groups of 25 people were organized hourly by specialists in the taxonomy of all species of the park.

Did you know BioBlitz
Over the last four BioBlitz editions in the Serralves Park, dozens of new species have been cataloged, mainly in the bryophyte, lichen and insect groups. Last year a new species was registered in all portuguese territory!
