In addition to the graduation of future professionals, the Faculty
of Letters of the University of Porto also contributes, since February,
to the objetive of a more sustainable environment.
The EE + @ FLUP is an energy efficiency project whose ultimate
goal is to raise two levels in the energy rating of the college's main
building. The initiative also contributes to nature so that the more
energy is saved, the less gases will be released into the environment, i.e. less
pollution.

The project is already under way and more than a thousand lamps have already been replaced by a cheaper type. Until the conclusion, scheduled to 2019, it is intended to replace and improve the solar characteristics of the building's glass and install a solar energy production system through photovoltaic panels for self-consumption.
According to Fernanda Ribeiro, director of FLUP, in an interview with JPN, the installation of photovoltaic panels is a very important measure, since it will allow FLUP to produce energy without having to "buy from a supplier".

The benefits of the project go beyond the financial and energy
levels, it is a project that thinks beyond the sustainability of the
environment that is important for us as well as for future generations.
NaturPorto, being a project that was born at FLUP's facilities, is
proud to be a part of this college's history and see these changes happen.
