With sunny days finally arriving to Porto, Parque da Cidade, also known as Portugal's largest urban park, becomes an even better option for leisure and nature watching.

In 2018, the park completes 25 years of existence, since it was officially inaugurated in 1993. The architect and landscaper responsible for the project was Sidónio Pardal, and it has an area of 83 hectares, extending itself to the Atlantic Ocean. It is, therefore, one of the few urban parks that offers direct access to the beach, which makes it even more appealing to its visitors.

The variety of flora and fauna in the park is also great. Species of flora include Pinus pinea, Pinus pinaster, Platanus spp., Poplars (Populus spp.), Oaks (Quercus spp.), Amierios (Almus glutinosa), the Salgueiros (Salix alba) and the Birch (Betula alba). Fauna presents, among others, a great variety of birds, such as seagulls

Along its 83 hectares, Parque da Cidade features lakes, fountains and fields, as well as spaces dedicated to the practice of sports. Known as the "green lung" of the city, it is undoubtedly a must-see option for both tourists and residents of Porto.
