The Serralves Museum of Contemporary Arts presents an exhibition of the Bienal. "Incerteza viva: Uma exposição a partir da 32ª Bienal de São Paulo" will be at the museum on the first day of May.
The exposition will be organized by the Bienal Foundation of São Paulo, in collaboration with the Serralves Museum. It will brin to Porto projects from 14 artists with the main goal of a common understanding of the importance of the relations between Brasil and Portugal in the artistic world.
The promotion of contemporary arts at a global level makes part of both institutions' purpose. In Serralves, the exhibition will be in charge of Jochen Volvz, curator, and João Ribas, the museum's associate director.
The presented art works (paintings, sculptures, videos and facilities) illustrate the principal common topics from the brazilian exposition, organized between September and December 2016. Topics like the thinking of nowadays' living conditions and the contemporary arts' role on mobilizing people.
There will be five pavillions and ateliers from young Porto architects for this exhibition, that will be spread on many parts of the park. The art works are from Gabriel Abrantes, Jeremy Deller and Cecilia Bengolea, Pricila Fernandes, Barbara Wagner and Benjamin de Burca, and Jonathas de Andrade.
On the exhibition day, outside the museum, Carla Filipe will be presenting an art work made of edible non-conventional plants, Alicia Barney will be showing the Vale de Alicia and music will also have its role, with Öyvind Fahlström's work.
Inside the museum, you may observe some art works from Lais Myrrha, Lourdes Castro, Vídeo nas Aldeias, Leon Hirszman, Grada Kilomba and a prop from Sonia Andrade in the Contemporary Gallery.
The 2nd edition of Bienal of São Paulo in Serralves will have an illustrated catalogue with pictures from all works of the exposition, with detailed information about the pavillions and interviews with the architects, counting with the Brazilian Culture Ministry's support.
For handicapped people, there's an alternate path with no access restrictions (with the exception of the lake's pavillions and Prado das Aromáticas).
