Porto smelled the sweet perfume of Camellias

Porto got to be vain this last weekend. Saturday and Sunday, the city dressed itself with the pink colors of the Camellias. An exposition, workshops and other activities let the visitors have a relaxing day.

The S. Bento da Vitória Monastery dressed in pink for the big day. The 23rd Porto Camellia exposition brought a different view from this peculiar flower. The event counted with camellias from all over the world, including countries like the United States, New Zealand, Taiwan and China, besides Portugal.

But these plants weren't here just for the show. The expositors were also competing for two main prizes: the Best Camellia and the Best Portuguese Origin Camellia. Inside the monastery, there were also free workshops, theater plays for children, musical moments and, of course, a camellia market.

As a family event, the kids got their part in this play too. Some corners and gardens of the city had their street lights decorated with some handmade drawings of the camellia, all of them made by kids from schools all over Porto.

Unfortunately, due to the heavy rain, most of the outside activities got cancelled in the last day. Still, the camellias had their moment to shine and fascinate all of the visitors.
