Bioblitz is an event that aims to captivate the community to preserve biodiversity and raise awareness of the importance of nature conservation. It happens in the Serralves Foundation and has the support of Lipor and the city hall.
The purpose of the activity is to identify as many species of fauna and flora present in the Serralves Park as possible in a short period of time, functioning as a "lightning biological inventory". The main themes to identify will be Trees and shrubs, Amphibians, Bats, Micromammals, Lichens, Bryophytes, Birds, Reptiles, Insects, Mushrooms.
It takes place on the weekend of April 21st and 22nd, being the 5th edition of the event. Admission is free and families and public in general are invited. There is an "intense effort to concentrate many people - specialists from various fields, volunteers, families, students, teachers and other community members - with a common determination to discover biodiversity", as the organizing institution says.
