“FUTURO - projeto das 100.000 árvores da Área Metropolitana do Porto” ("THE FUTURE - project of the 100.000 trees of the Metropolitan Area of Porto") - partnered with the City Hall to offer trees and bushes to residents, companies and organizations that want to embellish their gardens and lands while helping a cause. If you are interested, hurry up! Applications end March 21st.

Started  in 2011, “O FUTURO” set a goal of 100.000 trees planted, in order to reforest and rehab around 100 hectares of land all over the Metropolitan Area of Porto. For the third consecutive year, "O FUTURO" joined forces with Porto’s City Hall to invigorate the “Se tem um jardim, temos uma árvore para si” program (If you have a garden we have a tree for you”). The initiative is inserted in the municipal strategy for the Environment and for the Adaptation to to Climate Change. It has the objective of planting 10.000 autochthonous trees and  bushes all over the city’s private gardens until 2020. During the first two years of this protocol, over 3.800 plants were planted, in more than 830 private gardens of the city.

If you want to be a part of the project, all you must do is apply here for the trees, up to a maximum of ten. You even get to choose what trees do you want.  On this year’s edition, there are eleven different species available. Those who receive the trees will also have free specialized education to learn how to take care of the plants.
