The metrosideros originate in New Zealand and embellish parts of Avenida de Montevideo and Avenida do Brasil, in Foz do Douro. Joining with other Flora species, such as the palms, form an unforgettable sight.

The 55 copies of this species present in the Leme Man Garden have been classified as Public Interest since 2005 and have been around for 60 years. They are an element of clear prominence in this green space and combine perfectly with the statue of the Homem do Leme.
