Like ducks, loons and swans, geese are part of the Anatidae family of birds. Primordially, they have two main species: the wild goose and the goose-swan, from which the domestic geese derive.
Characterized by gray and white coat, orange beak and height ranging from 60 centimeters to 1.15 meters, geese can have a rather long life if raised in captivity, where they can act as guard animals as or better efficient as a dog in defending its territory. They are excellent swimmers and the pups learn easily the act due to waterproof feathers and feet with interdigital membranes.

They are animals that feed essentially on plants, leaves, fruits, etc. They are also excellent flyers, capable of flying thousands of miles in the period of migration, besides being intelligent animals enough to use the stars to orient themselves and having good memory.
Wild geese, which are those that live in natural habitat, usually walk in groups and coexist harmoniously with other birds, such as the wild duck, as we can observe in one of our visits to the City Park.
